Bright Bugs in Action

Look at some of the fantastic learning we have been doing in the Bright Bugs! Some children have been learning to order numbers forwards and backwards to 10 during maths time. In reading time one of the activities is to write some words we know on the whiteboards and we also have been drawing pictures in our alphabet books that begin with letter 'o' this week. I wonder if you can think of some words that start with 'o' with your family? Super learning Bright Bugs!

The Bright Bugs

Look at this lovely movie that Rachel made about the Bright Bugs. She has seen how we have worked alongside each other over the past 5 weeks, helping each other and sharing together. Rachel has helped us in many ways and has been teaching us lots of new things. Our focus value this term is 'Kotahitanga' and this movie shows how if we work together and support each other we can achieve great things. Good luck Rachel with the rest of your own learning this year at Massey. We look forward to your visits next term and we know you will be out in the audience watching us and cheering us on at the Regent on June 25th.

Five Little Sharks Swimming in the Sea

One of the songs we have been singing in the mornings from our blog is 'Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed". Elliot brought his lovely book to school today for sharing that has the same rhythm as Five Little Monkeys. We shared the story and here it is! Thanks Elliot. I wonder if some of you could try and sing the 'Five Little Sharks' using the 'Five Little Monkeys' tune?
Five Little Sharks Swimming in the Sea
Written by Steve Metzger
Five little sharks swimming in the sea
One bumped into a giant manatee.
The mother called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more sharks swimming in the sea!”

Four little sharks splashing by the shore.
One got stuck on the ocean floor.
The mother called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more sharks splashing by the shore!”

Three little sharks racing past a whale.
One got close and banged his tail.
The mother called the doctor and the doctor said,
“ No more sharks racing past a whale!”

Two little sharks playing hide-and seek.
One got lost and was missing for a week.
The mother called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more sharks playing hide-and seek!”

One little shark swimming all alone...
... ate too much fish and began to groan.
The mother called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more sharks swimming all alone!”

Now there’s ... No little sharks swimming in the sea.
No little sharks as happy as can be.
The mother called the doctor and the doctor said,
"Let those sharks swim wild and free!”
